Goblin Melon Eyeballs–Sweet Shots for Spooky Halloween Nights

Halloween is flying toward us on its broom of darkness.  It’s prime time for costume preparation and parties. Blondeshell and I spent all day Saturday visiting costume shops near and far to put together some interesting, spirited costumes.

Let me tell you, I’m glad I do not work full time in a halloween store.  The screaming of banshees and flashing lights pretty much had me Halloweened out by the end of the day.  I’m still looking forward to the big day–or several, as I’m working on three different costumes for three different events.  Did I mention how much I love Halloween???

Well, after shopping in the Saturday crowds, I have a little shot to suggest…  It’s green and creepy looking and tasty!

The Goblin Melon Eyeball Shot

  • Midori Melon Liqueur
  • Vodka

It’s super easy:  pour half the shot vodka and half the shot Midori.  If you like super sweet drinks, just pour the Midori straight.

Get a tray.  Get a bunch of shot glasses.  Pour this eerie green potion and serve it around the Halloween party.  Looks festive.  Tastes great!

Skip the Sunset and Flag the Raging Bull

We taste tested the shots and went in a whole new direction.  The Raging Bull was chosen hands down as the favorite.

The Raging Bull

  1. Tequila
  2. Sambuca (we used white)
  3. Kahlua

Mix equal portions, shake well with ice, pour into shot glasses to share with friends or angry farm animals and shoot it.

Special Shots for a Special Birthday

All right folks, we are serving up some party shots to celebrate a very special Blondeshell around here.  Wanting to keep all drinks at this party TA-KEEEL-YA based, so as not to kill us all that much the morning after, here’s the menu and a few recipes that will accompany the Pomegranate Margaritas.

 SUNSET PARTY SHOT:

  1. White Tequila
  2. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  3. Granadine

Shake 2 parts tequila with a splash of lime juice and grenadine with ice.

Icy Fire

  1. Rumple Minze Peppermint Schnapps
  2. Gold Tequila

Layer equally the schnapps and the tequila.

Electric Banana

  1. Tequila Blanco
  2. Creme de Banane
  3. Lime Juice

Shake 2 parts tequila with 1 part each creme de banane and lime juice with ice.

Taste test on Friday!
